The View to the False Summit from our Base Camp!

We set up our base camp in a light drizzle, and gusty winds, but the storm broke about 2:00 am, and it was a beautiful day to climb!

Walking back to the South or False Summit, the actual summit is center left.

We shared the summit with 25 or 30 other climbers, maybe not quite as crowded as Mount Rainier on that Sunday, but still a lot of people enjoyed the climb!

Mount Hood

Looking due South to the spectacular Mt. Hood above a sea of clouds.

Mount Rainier

Looking due North to the hulking mass of Mt. Rainier, also well above the clouds!

It was a wonderful climb, and sunburn aside, one I enjoyed very much. I think I would like to climb the North Ridge Route on this peak next year!
Thanks for stopping by to look!
BTW, click on the images to see them in full size! They are well worth the bandwidth!

Mount Adams, 8.8.2010

Here is a nice view of the actual summit of Mt. Adams, taken from the South, or false summit, as you can see, it is still quite a ways to the top from here!

Missoula North Hills

Hadley and I took a little Hike up Waterworks Hill yesterday!
We had such a wonderful time, and then cooled our toes in Rattlesnake creek before cooling our bellies at Baskin-Robbins where vanilla [bean] is her favorite!

And here is another instalment of Why I Live In Western Montana!
The beautiful waters of the North Fork of the Blackfoot River leaving the scorched and rugged Scapegoat Wilderness, which is at the southern tip of the Bob Marshall Wilderness complex, the largest contiguous wilderness area in the lower 48.
The sign says this is Bull Trout water, and I can attest to that! The cutthroats here are wonderful to catch, but you must be patient, because the water is so clear you see them coming from the very bottom of the river, and the tendency is to pull the fly too early! Peace of mind is to be found in abundance here.

We Sat in Our Chairs
She in Hers
Me in Mine
The Clouds
Opened a Window
For Hadley and Me
To See
Polaris
And We Looked
Through the Tree
Behind the Mountains
For a Moon
That Still Shines
On the Ocean
Where Whales Live

I love You Hadley!

Here is a picture of The Chutes at Castle Mountain, Alberta Canada.
A beautiful day considering the sun was shinning. Some of those tracks are from the Montana Gang!
This is without a doubt the best ski area in North America! Double Black Diamond Chutes, and the rest
of the ski area is twice again as big as what is visible from this picture! This picture is taken from the
top of the Intermediate/beginner lift! Terrific fall line skiing for 3000 vertical feet! Not that I want huge crowds here, but you really should check out the web page at; http://www.skicastle.ca !
